I can confirm this also works on Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala. Just installed Karmic on my laptop and the trick worked just the same

Thanks for the info, it worked great with my Logitech Trackman Marble. I just wanted to remove the behaviour with Back+Forward on browser, and have middle-button as one of the buttons (I have 2 additional buttons on my Trackman).

I have karmic koala. So @martin, the method works, you just probably have to play a little with the button order. Hope you succeed.

Mainly the email-app; it doesn’t support IMAP-Idle and isn’t capable of handling large mailboxes. I had to use Nokia Messaging, which works but doesn’t have any support for IMAP-Folders. I hoped for an SW-update from Nokia around Xmass, but there wasn’t any.
Other issues were; Battery life is not enough for my usage (3G online whole day, 2 hours of calls each day, not always possible to charge at night) and there still isn’t turn-by-turn navigation available yet.
Eventually I kept using my old E90 for daily use.

Don’t get me wrong; the N900 is really a good device, it just doesn’t suit my needs.

Thanks for these instruction. I had to download Blueman on my N900 and then transfer the package to my Ubuntu computer, but besides that, it all went pretty smoothly.

Just thought I’d say that it might help if you mention you’re using Blueman (http://blueman-project.org) instead of the default ubuntu bluetooth manager.

Also there is now a package you can installed on the N900 called Bluetooth-DUN that will automatically turn on (and off) the Bluetooth DUN whenever Bluetooth is turned on (and off).

yeah, i do, but a temporary solution is to use nokia messaging: supports IMAP idle and allows to sync msgs from a time-range and select folders.. works great
